Silk, viscose & linen pile fibres
Within our Premium and Couture collections we produce both rugs and wall to wall carpets using specialist pile fibres such as Silk, Viscose and Linen. Sensuous to touch, these delicate fibres are used to produce the most exquisite lustrous carpets and are most suited to luxury use. Whilst strong, these specialist fibres are harder to maintain and are more susceptible to staining when compared to wool; for this reason, we would not recommend their use in areas subjected to heavy or concentrated wear. All Wool Classics carpets produced using these fibres are dyed using the finest quality dyestuffs, however it should be understood that these fibres are less colourfast to light and should therefore be protected from strong direct sunlight to avoid colour fading. We do not recommend that carpets produced in silk, viscose or linen are subjected to any form of overall wet cleaning process or that any liquids are used to treat spots or stains as this may reduce the strength of the fibre, cause unsightly matting of the pile yarns in the treated areas and cause colour loss or colour migration.
As with carpets made from wool pile fibres, a simple maintenance programme including regular, interim and periodic cleaning will keep your specialist fibre carpet in beautiful condition and perhaps, in the case of our hand knotted rugs, allowing you to pass on an heirloom for future generations.
